we want this to be a flexible, fun place to write, and we hope we can keep the rules to a minimum.
about the game first of all, we know the harry potter world has a lot of problematic aspects, not least of which is the evil ass woman who invented it all. nothing about this game is meant to be an endorsement of jk rowling or any of the stereotypes within the wizarding world. obviously none of us are profiting from this, and we really just want to play in a world we're all nostalgic for.
to level set, we're not changing anything about harry potter canon. it makes it way easier for everyone to have the same reference point. but the events in the books took place in the late 90s, and our expectation is that the wizarding world in the 2020s is a hell of a lot more progressive. obviously no world is free from bigotry and conflict, but in 2024, there isn't common prejudice against muggle-borns or other magical races.
before applying
you'll need a journal (ic or ooc), a screened post and an ic post. your screened post should contain a bio with character basics (name, age, education, occupation) and a biography, and we hope you'll flesh them out with magical stats like wand type and any special powers they might have. backdate and lock your posts!
after joining you must intro in
disapparate within 72 hours from the date you were added. new members who have not run the friends button within 48 hours or who have not responded to intro comments in a timely manner will be removed.
participation existing members + new members added prior to the 15th of the month are required to submit 2 updates by the last day of the month, and your intro counts as an update. if you were added after the 15th, you'll only be required to intro. any update counts as long as it shows some effort, and no placeholders will be allowed. extensions and hiatuses will be granted liberally but on a case-by-case basis.
plots and activities the mod team will run opt-in plots for everyone on a monthly or every-other-month basis. we're not following a big overarching narrative to start off with, but we'll see how things shake out as we go and what our members want to do. everyone is welcome to submit plot and activity ideas to the mods and we'll probably approve them!
behavior we should never even have to include this in community rules but people can really suck, so please don't.
do not harass or bully other members. be respectful and mature when dealing with each other and with the mods. tag potentially triggering content, whether in your bio or in updates. we know the non-sol space can unfortunately attract some bullies, so
seriously: if we see any evidence of this kind of behavior, you'll be removed and not welcome back.
